And as adults we grow stiff, and we grow bored, we grow fearful and we grow stale.\nWe crave this kind of experience that awakens the mind’s attention from the lethargy of accustomed and a film of familiarity and redirects instead towards the wonder of existence.\nWe look to our poets, our noble savages to remind us in the language of what is possible, to remind us that there are no limits to the human spirit.\nWe make bumper stickers and we hang them on our fridge to remind us of the life of authenticity that we want and long to live. And yet, at the same time, everywhere around us we see the opposite, the signalling and the messaging, is to conform, to grow out of childish dreams, to settle, to deaden.\nWe all want cosmological awe and wonder, we all want cosmic heroism, we all want to slay the dragons, we want to face our fears, we want to surrender and submit because if we can’t submit, we can’t die and if we cannot die, we cannot be reborn.\nWe want transformation, we want to heal, we want to be leaders, and we want to bring that change in this world, yet we are so scared to look at our shadows, patterns and wounds.\nAn element of the human saga is transcendent play. Not just how children play but a particular dimension of adult play. Something exquisitely human. Of course, adults often play in the same way and for the same reasons children do; they act silly because it’s fun; they play to socialize, which can include besting a rival or developing a friendship.
